DAMAN- One Place Seen the Many More Himalaya


Daman is one of the hill areas situated at Makawanpur district southwest of Kathmandu. It is 75 km far from Kathmandu and its height id 2322 m. It is located on the Tribhuvan Highway between Kathmandu and the town of Birgunj. Daman can be reached in nearly four hours from Kathmandu.

Daman is the place from where the beautiful sceneries can be seen. There is a view tower fitted with long range telescopes. Daman offers the only unimpeded view of the entire Himalayan range. Rising of sun can also be seen from this spot which is very attractive as well as beautiful. The world’s highest peak Mt. Everest can be seen from the place. As well as Makalu, Ganesh Himal, Annapurna and other many more can be viewed. Daman is very fortunate to have the temple of Rishashwor, a famous temple having great religious importance.

At Daman, travelers can enjoy by performing different types of activities. One can go through trekking, sightseeing, cycling and so on. Rafting in Indra Sarowor is another attraction of this site. Travelers can get an experience of local culture, tradition and languages as well. Internet facilities as well as seminar hall are available here.

  1. Very useful post. The word Daman is a corruption of Portuguese word Damao. Though its age is unknown, it’s said to have existed during the same time as the
    Bassein Port, which in turn traces its origins to 9 CE. In the 16th century, prior to its capture by the Portuguese, Daman was a part of the Gujarat Sultanate. Check out all best places to visit in Daman also.
